Our Christmas project 2017: New gallery rails for the “WirQuartier”

As in previous years, we would like to support a local social project this year as an alternative to Christmas presents. The Osnabrück project “WirQuartier“ attracted our attention.

Inclusive living in Osnabrück

A few years back, a group of parents of children with disabilities met at the Lebenshilfe Osnabrück, a self-help organisation for people with mental disabilities. Together, they developed ideas to help their children lead self-determined lives in society. Soon afterwards, the Heilpädagogische Hilfe Osnabrück (a support organisation for people with disabilities), the Student Services Osnabrück and the Friedel & Gisela Bohnenkamp Stiftung also became partners, laying the foundations for inclusive living in which people with disabilities and students live together. This concept has proven its value over the years and has developed into a positive living environment with people who support each other. Regular excursions, events, theme nights, etc. help to strengthen the sense of community. To preserve these fond memories, the people living in the “WirQuartier” wanted gallery rails for their corridor, to be able to hang pictures of their joint activities. We were glad to fulfil this wish for them – and the gallery rails are already hanging in the “WirQuartier” in Osnabrück.
